Pricing and Booking Questions
Money questions come up on almost every call, so here they are in plain terms. The short version: you see the price before we start, and you pay when the job is done.
Call (07) 3523 6428How much does a plumbing job cost?
Every job gets a fixed quote before any work starts, so the price you approve is the price you pay; the figure depends on access, parts and how long the repair takes.
Do you give quotes over the phone?
Most jobs need eyes on the pipes before a number goes on paper, because access and parts change the figure; describe the problem and we will tell you what happens next.
How do I pay for the work?
Card and EFTPOS on site once the job is finished and you are happy with it, so there is nothing to invoice later and no account to settle by mail.
Do I need to be home for the quote?
Usually yes, because the plumber needs to see the pipe runs and the access before pricing; if you cannot get there, ring us and we will sort out a time that works.
Services and Repairs Questions
People often ring unsure whether their job is one we do. If water, gas or drainage is involved, the answer is nearly always yes.
Call (07) 3523 6428What plumbing services do you cover?
Tap and toilet repairs, bathroom and kitchen plumbing, leak detection, gas fitting, blocked drains, CCTV drain inspections, hot water repair and replacement, and emergencies such as burst pipes anywhere in Kallangur.
Do you handle gas work too?
Yes, gasfitting sits on the same QBCC No: 15024607 licence as plumbing and drainage, so bayonet points, cooktops, heaters and suspected gas leaks are all work we can legally carry out.
Can you fix my hot water system?
Both ends of the job, from a failed element or thermostat to a cylinder at the end of its life, including the controlled-load circuits many older homes in these streets run on.
Which suburbs do you service?
Kallangur Plumber works the home patch plus the adjoining suburbs of Dakabin, North Lakes, Griffin, Murrumba Downs and Petrie, and our plumbers are through that northern corridor every week of the year.
Emergency Plumbing Questions
Emergencies are where a little knowledge helps most. These answers cover the first moves that keep a bad situation from getting worse.
Call (07) 3523 6428What should I do about a burst pipe?
Turn the water off at the meter first, usually out the front near the boundary, then ring us; closing the meter tap stops the flow while you wait for the plumber.
Is a gas smell an emergency?
Leave the property and ring from outside, and do not flick switches or light flames on the way out; never try to trace a gas smell yourself, call from a safe distance.
My toilet is overflowing, what do I do first?
Turn off the cistern tap or lift the float to stop it rising, keep people away from the water, and ring us; an overflowing pan is a job we treat as urgent.
Can you come today?
Same-day where we can, especially on calls made early in the day; tell us what is happening and we will fit you in around the booked work already on the run.
Local Conditions and Booking Questions
This district's housing and creeks shape a lot of the calls we get. These are the local questions worth understanding before a problem starts.
Call (07) 3523 6428Why do drains block more on the older streets?
The grid streets subdivided off Anzac Avenue from the late 1960s were plumbed in short jointed clay lengths, and decades of ground movement have opened those joints to fine roots and silt.
Does storm season make drainage worse?
Between November and March, storms drive surface water down Freshwater Creek and along flow paths the council has mapped, while gully traps and yard drains on nearby lots catch silt and leaf litter.
What is a controlled-load tariff?
Queensland's Tariff 31 and 33 heat the tank only in set off-peak windows on a separately metered circuit, so a replacement has to keep that circuit live rather than bypass it.
How do I book a plumber in Kallangur?
Ring (07) 3523 6428 and tell us what is going on; we will ask a few quick questions, work out a price for the job and set a visit time that suits your household.
